Why Mount Union?
I heard about Mount Union from my high school friend, Paula Kyser. She is a year older than I am, and saw all the memories she was making at Mount Union, so I had to check out the campus for myself. From the first time I stepped onto Mount Union’s campus, I knew this was the school for me. I chose to attend Mount Union because the community size was very similar to my high school’s size and I felt I would be able to adjust better to college life than if I went to a larger school. I also chose to come here because it is only an hour and a half away from home, which gives me an opportunity to still see my family, but have the experience of living on my own.

Close Community
I love Mount Union’s tight-knitted community. Small gestures from other people, such as greeting someone you walk past every day but may not even know, or holding the door open for the next person walking by, makes Mount Union unique.

Purple Raider Marching Band
Joining the Purple Raider Marching band has helped me adjust to college life the most. Coming to a university where I knew only one person was a tough choice, but because band camp starts over the summer, it allowed me to become involved in a program before the semester started. This has allowed me to meet some of the best friends I have here at Mount Union.

The Exceptional Difference
Mount Union is different from any other college or university because the professors take the time to get to know you not only by name, but personally. Professors want to see you succeed in your academic career here at Mount Union. They will work to give you the personalized education you need so that you can understand the material in and outside of the classroom.

Why Biology
I chose Biology as my major because of the love I have for the sciences. In high school, I was enrolled in a Biotechnology program. Being able to do hands-on research in the field during high school, I became fascinated in furthering my studies in biology and future career in the sciences.

A New Perspective
Before coming to Mount Union, I did not ever think I would be interested in anything else besides the science. My sophomore year, I took an introduction to Business class, and it changed my prospective. I decided to minor in business administrations because of the interest I found in the business field. I feel this will help me succeed in my major by becoming better rounded with the business aspect in the biology industry.

A Liberal Arts Education
The benefit of combining a liberal arts education and professional preparation has made me a well-rounded student, further educated me in different studies, and helped enhance my written and oral skills. Taking classes outside my field of study shows future employers or grad schools other interests I have.
