Thanksgiving Community Meal to be Held on November 21
November 22, 2009
Sigma Theta Epsilon, a Christian service fraternity at Mount Union, is hosting the second annual Thanksgiving Community Meal in partnership the College’s Office of Service-Learning and Community Service and the Salvation Army. The meal will be held on Saturday, November 21 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Salvation Army in Alliance.
The meal was initiated last year by political science major, Jeremy Evans ’11 of Garrettsville, who now serves as a student member on the Salvation Army board.
The meal is free and open to the public. The meal will also include fellowship, music and kid’s crafts. Those who attend the community meal will also receive a coupon for a free dinner at Shaffer’s Diner on Thanksgiving Day.
“We have received a great number of donations from various area businesses and the Mount Union support staff members are baking pies,” said Amanda Espenschied-Reilly, Director of Service Learning and Community Service. “We are very excited to partner with other organizations in an effort to offer a free meal to others in the community during these hard economic times and the willingness of so many people to help us out has been fantastic.”
