Thanksgiving Meal Planned for November 23
November 12, 2013
ALLIANCE, Ohio – University of Mount Union students, faculty and staff members will come together with area businesses to serve a community-wide Thanksgiving meal from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 23 at the Alliance Salvation Army.
The meal is being organized by Mount Union’s Regula Center for Public Service and Civic Engagement and is being sponsored by area businesses.
According to Abby Honaker, assistant director for the Regula Center, more than 400 meals were served in 2012 and the goal is to serve 500 meals this year.
“The meal is open to everyone in the community – not only those who are in need,” Honaker said. “We invite and encourage anyone who would enjoy good food and fellowship to attend.”
The meal is free and open to the public and kid’s crafts will be available. Guest chef Dennis Devies will be helping to prepare food for the meal.
“This is one of the Regula Center’s largest community service events of the year,” Honaker said. “We rely on the support of local businesses and student and community volunteers, along with our valued partnership with the Salvation Army, to put this event on and are truly thankful for each and every person who helps to make this yearly project a success.”
Monetary donations are being accepted to help purchase items for the meal. To donate, contact Honaker at (330) 829-8168.
