The University of Mount Union Seeks Volunteers for MLK Day of Service
January 05, 2017
ALLIANCE, Ohio – The University of Mount Union’s Regula Center for Public Service and Civic Engagement is seeking community volunteers for the upcoming MLK Day of Service on Monday, January 16.
Mount Union’s MLK Day of Service began seven years ago with around 100 volunteers, and has swelled to more than 400 in 2015, and the number of community partners has increased from 11 at its inception to more than 30. Locations volunteers can select from for volunteering include the Alliance Community Pantry, Danbury Senior Living, Hartville Thrift Shoppe, the Rodman Public Library, and many others. These jobs entail duties such as cleaning, painting, crafting and organizing.
Volunteers can select locations at which they prefer to serve. Because of this, volunteers are asked to register via this link prior to Thursday, January 12. Volunteers will be able to sign up the morning of the event, however location and T-shirt preferences will not be guaranteed.
Volunteers will check in between 8:15 - 8:45 a.m. in the field house on Monday, January 16, where the Regula Center will be collecting lose change for area agencies.
Volunteers will leave campus at 9 a.m. and stay at their locations until noon. Everyone is then invited back to campus for lunch.
Questions or concerns should be directed to Abby Honaker by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or via text at 330-204-4663.
