PRESIDENT GIESE TO STEP DOWN IN 2015
During this weekend’s Board of Trustees retreat, Dr. Richard F. Giese announced that he will step down as president of the University of Mount Union at the close of his current contract on June 30, 2015. Read more.

MOUNT UNION NAMED 2013 TREE CAMPUS USA
For the fourth consecutive year, the Arbor Day Foundation has recognized the University of Mount Union as a 2013 Tree Campus USA in honor of its commitment to effective urban forest management. Read more.

MOUNT ANNOUNCES INVESTMENT ALLIANCE SCHOLARSHIP
In an effort to battle “brain drain” in the area and keep Alliance’s best and brightest in the city, Dr. Richard F. Giese, president of the University of Mount Union, announced today a new scholarship initiative, Investment Alliance. Initiated in cooperation with the Alliance City Schools, the scholarship program will result in Mount Union awarding full-tuition scholarships to high-caliber Alliance High School graduates. DR. MANDY CAPEL NAMED GREAT TEACHER
Dr. Mandy Capel, associate professor of education at the University of Mount Union, was presented with the 2014 Great Teacher Award during the University’s annual Senior Recognition and Honors Convocation on Tuesday. Read more.

MOUNT UNION SWEEPS OAC MEN'S AND WOMEN's ALL-SPORT TROPHIES

Saturday's festivities kicked off bright and early at the annual Community Breakfast held at the University of Mount Union as four Alliance citizens were awarded some of the community's top honors. Read more.

CLASS OF 2013 REPORTS SUCCESS IN SEARCH FOR JOBS
The recently released results of the University of Mount Union’s 2013 First Destination Report revealed that the institution is not only where exceptional begins, but where it continues post-graduation. According to the First Destination Report, 98% of 2013 graduates found success in their search for degree-required careers or graduate school attendance (with 85% of graduates self-reporting). MOUNT UNION RANKED AS A TOP COLLEGE BY U.S. NEWS
The University of Mount Union has been ranked 11th among Midwest Regional Colleges in U.S. News and World Report’s 2015 America’s Best Colleges ranking. The Regional Colleges category includes an 11-state region with institutions from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin. PERFORMING ARTS CENTER NAMED IN HONOR OF GIESES
The University of Mount Union Board of Trustees voted unanimously Friday to name the institution’s new performing arts center, currently under construction on campus, in honor of Dr. Richard and Mrs. Sandra Giese. Richard has served as president of the institution since 2005, when he and Sandra returned to Mount Union and the Alliance community they had called home for 19 years. Read more.

GALLAHER HALL DEDICATED
Students, faculty, distinguished guests and the president of the University of Mount Union met Friday to honor the name of the late Dr. Charles S. Gallaher in the dedication of the newest addition to the campus, a science and medical building, Gallaher Hall. Read more.

DR. RICHARD MERRIMAN NAMED 12TH PRESIDENT OF THE UNIVERSITY OF MOUNT UNION
Dr. W. Richard Merriman Jr., president of Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas, has been named the 12th president of the University of Mount Union, announced Randall Hunt, chair of the Mount Union Board of Trustees and Allen Green, chair of the Presidential Search Committee. The appointment, which concludes a six-month nationwide search, comes upon unanimous decision of trustees during a special meeting of the Board last Friday. Read more.
