World Language Internships and Hands-On Learning
Students who choose to minor in a world language at the University of Mount Union have ample opportunities to get “real-world” experience outside of the classroom. By getting involved in extracurricular opportunities and student organizations, you can strengthen your proficiency in various cultures and traditions, both of which are critical to career success.
Hands-on learning opportunities as a world language minor at Mount Union will give you many chances to put classroom knowledge to work. These opportunities include:
- Study abroad experiences
- Service-learning opportunities in Hispanic communities
- Travel seminars to Japan, Germany, China, France and Argentina
- Individual Research
Alpha Mu Gamma is a national foreign language honorary.
Association of International Students is a student-led organization on Mount Union’s campus that works with international and domestic students alike to create community on campus for people of all cultures and nationalities. AIS's goal is to build friendships at Mount that will eventually lead to the building of international understanding and cooperation. AIS's most well-known event is the annual International Dinner were students have the opportunity to share culture through cultural food and performances for both the campus and local community.
Study Abroad Club is a student-led organization on campus that seeks to provide a community to those who have studied abroad through sharing cultural experiences and also wish to continue an interest in international education. The group holds meetings with current students that are alumni of study abroad on a regular basis, and shows students how to market the skills and personal development they have obtained through study abroad.
French Culture Club is a student-led organization that seeks to organize and promote French Language activities on Mount Union's campus as well as foster a sense of community among students studying French. Its membership is open for students with a French major, minor or an interest in the French language or culture.
German Club is a student-led organization that seeks to bring German culture to its members and the Mount Union community through club events, service projects and socializing. Its membership is open for students with a German major, minor or an interest in the German language or culture.
Japanese Club is a student-led organization that seeks to bring Japanese culture to its members and the Mount Union community through club events, service projects and socializing. Some events and activities of the club include the annual culture festival, a spring hanami (flower-viewing) party and communicating and assisting with the Hiroshima Jogakuin's (a high school in Hiroshima, Japan that Mount Union has developed a close relationship with) students visit to campus. Its membership is open for students with a Japanese major, minor or an interest in the Japanese language or culture.
Chinese Club is a student-led organization on campus that seeks to organize and promote the study of the Chinese Language and activities at Mount Union. The organization seeks to foster a sense of community among all students studying or interested in the Chinese language or culture.
Hispanic Organization Latin America (HOLA) is a student-led organization on campus that seeks to educate the community on Hispanic culture and diversity on the University of Mount Union campus.
