The University of Mount Union’s Department of Theatre will present “ZARA SPOOK AND OTHER LURES” by Joan Ackermann on Thursday, October 7; Friday, October 8; and Saturday, October 9 at 8 p.m. in the Rodman Playhouse.
The comedy is centered around Evelyn, a little woman with a big dream. She wants to win the national women’s bass fishing tournament sponsored by Bassin’ Gal Magazine but she has stiff competition from the legendary champion Ramona. She may have to settle for “Rookie of the Year.” Meanwhile, Evelyn must contend with her tireless boyfriend Talmadge, who desperately wants to marry her and won’t take “get lost” for an answer. Ramona, too, has a man in pursuit, her macho estranged husband who was dismissed from Ramona's life for being insensitive. He’s out to prove her wrong.
Under the direction of Dr. Doug Hendel, professor of theatre, the cast includes Jon Baley, a senior music major from Akron, OH as Talmadge; Katie Proch, a freshman from Canfield, OH as Evelyn; Nicole Alponat, a freshman from Mentor, OH as Teale; Sarah Hayes, a junior theatre major from Macedonia, OH as Margery; Kenny Leep, a sophomore from Stow, OH as Mel; and Dawn Gottlieb, a junior theatre major from Seville, OH as Ramona.  Rudy Roggenkamp Jr., professor of theatre and chair of the Department of Theatre, is the scenic and lighting designer and technical director and Deb Lotsof, professor of theatre, is the costume designer for the theatrical performance.
The Rodman Playhouse is located on the corner of Simpson Street and Union Avenue on Mount Union’s campus. Tickets are $8 for general admission. Tickets are complimentary for Mount Union faculty, staff and students. For more information or to order tickets, call (330) 821-2565.
