Welcome to the University of Mount Union’s Department of Communication. With three majors and one minor, the department offers a wide array of courses in media, interpersonal, organizational, intercultural, rhetoric, and public relations. Our field is very dynamic, preparing students for a variety of careers and graduate school. Students combine hands-on coursework with co-curriculars such as Raider Student Media and the Public Relations Student Society of America with important learning opportunities such as internships and study abroad. We emphasize social justice, ethics, and engaged citizenship. The faculty are experts in their fields and are very enthusiastic about what they teach. You can expect caring mentors who provide one-on-one support throughout your college career and after graduation.
The integrated media program provides you with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary for producing and critically thinking about media. Our broad-based in-class curriculum is complemented by an immersive student media experience including co-curriculars and internships. This combination provides you with the type of hands-on experience you’ll need to be competitive in today’s job market.
Our public relations major combines theoretical concepts and practical skills within an integrated marketing approach. Classroom learning is complemented by internships and co-curriculars such as the Public Relations Student Society of America. Employment opportunities in public relations is expected to grow seven percent over the next ten years
The Communication Studies program allows you to choose from a broad-based curriculum that examines verbal and non-verbal communication in many contexts including interpersonal, organizational, media, public, and intercultural. This program prepares students for a wide range of careers and graduate school as well for personal growth and engaged citizenship.
The faculty is extremely proud of our graduates.
