Mount Union Theatre Direct-Entry Admission

The Department of Theatre requires that all students wishing to major in theatre as a first-choice major, or as part of a double-major be admitted into the department.

Those wishing to major in theatre should contact the department to set up a time to complete an admission audition or portfolio review, depending on your area of specialization.  Musical theatre and performance students will complete an audition of no more than four minutes and perform two contrasting monologues or one monologue and a portion of a song.  Each designer or technician should bring a portfolio showing examples of theatre work. This work can be theoretical, practical, or both and may consist of pictures, renderings, sketches, process shots, prompt books, programs, costume pieces, or anything that displays the candidate’s talent and experience.

Completing the Auditions/portfolio review will also serve to make students eligible for theatre scholarships; no further interviews will be required.

Students who wish to minor in theatre or participate in theatre while at Mount Union may also compete for scholarships by requesting an audition or portfolio review time slot during one of our audition days.
