Working at Mount Union

Favorite Mount Union Fact

Mount Union’s original colors were turquoise and lavender. Until 1901, when the football team forgot their uniforms on a trip to Oberlin. In a rush to find replacements at a local store, the only available color was purple. Thus, Mount Union’s new colors were born. Often athletic teams here on campus still include touches of turquoise in alumni t-shirts, or even warm ups, what a great homage to our unique history!

Favorite Thing About Mount Union

My favorite thing about Mount Union is the community. The bonds students make not only with their peers, but with faculty and staff are beyond extraordinary. When I talk to alumni and hear them share their memories of Mount Union, it is truly the greatest experience of their life. This community helps shape young people into truly wonderful persons, and I am lucky to be a part of that experience.

Advice for Students During Their College Search

Be open minded and follow your instincts. Where you enroll, may be very different than what you initially imagined. If you have a particular feeling or hunch about an institution, listen to it. Every student has a unique path to discovering their perfect fit. Yours may not look like your parents or peers, and that’s okay. Finding what feels best and works for you is the best way to ensure you’ve found your future home.
