Choosing Mount Union

I attended for the community atmosphere, small class sizes, and the closeness to home. I was a commuting student my freshman year and Mount Union made this possible. My brother was a senior at the University of Mount Union when I was a freshman. It was a great experience and he served as a mentor to me and helped me to adjust to the collegiate level of learning. I received the Founders Scholarship and am extremely grateful for it. Without the scholarship I would have not been able to attend the University of Mount Union and have the educational experiences that I have had today.

Advice on Picking a College

I would tell high school students looking to decide on a university to go to someplace they are comfortable. It is important to be comfortable to learn and succeed. Think about what is going to be best for you! Does the school have the major you want? Are there any fast-track options? Mount Union feels like a small community of my best friends. It is extremely welcoming and a fun atmosphere. I always see my friends walking through campus and it is nice to see a friendly face.

Opportunities at Mount Union

I have had three internships during my time at the University of Mount Union. My first internship was as a Human Resources Intern at Coastal Pet in Alliance, Ohio. I organized and ran weekly hiring events, assisted with onboarding, new employee orientations, recruiting selection processes and gained experience with yearly paperwork and electronic data updates through payroll software changes. My second was an Operations Intern position at Anne Springs Close Greenway in Fort Mill, South Carolina. During this internship I ran events for 2,000+ people on a weekly basis by utilizing strong time management, communication, and volunteer management skills. I supervised and lead others at summer camps and concerts. I also assisted supervisors to promote venue sales for all eleven venues. The third and final is my current position at The Hall of Fame Resort and Entertainment Company in Canton, Ohio. I currently serve as their Events and Sponsorships Intern. I assist in event planning and management while working closely with clients. I also promote events, review analytics, and collaborate with colleagues and managers to ensure the company's ambitious standards are met. I welcome guests and ensure satisfaction during weddings, sporting events broadcast on ESPN, fundraisers, and other notable events. I sit in on meetings and interact with Hall of Fame Village sponsors and founders to discuss promotional efforts and contract details. My favorite experience has been at the Hall of Fame Village. I have worked hard to get this position and hope to create a career in event planning after school. Without Mount Union teaching me strong teamwork, communication, and time management skills I would have never been able to complete these internships.

Career Goals

I chose to double major in marketing and management because of the teachers and class sizes. I also was uncertain what I wanted to go into as a freshman and was an undecided major. The business department gave me a large variety of options for jobs after school. My goal is to work in event planning for a private venue or hotel. I have been working towards this goal for a long time and I look forward to seeing it come to life!
