Being a Raider
I learned about Mount Union through other students who went to my high school. I chose to attend the university because I really enjoyed the opportunity to be in marching band, and all the opportunities available on campus. I was fortunate to receive the Trustee Scholarship to attend Mount Union. It feels like my home away from home because of all the amazing friends that I have made in my time here. I currently intern at the Alcohol, Drug, and Wellness Education office on campus. This has already been my favorite experience because of how involved I am able to be on campus. I get to plan events on campus and educate others.
Advice for Picking the Right School
The advice that I would give is to not base your decision on what you think you want to do, base it on how friendly and welcoming the campus is. Most students typically do not stick with the major that they originally decided on when they first attended, so the most important part of your decision is if you feel comfortable and welcome on campus.
Career Plans
I chose psychology as my major because I am very interested in the brain and how it works when it comes to mental illness. After graduation, I hope to attend graduate school to obtain my master’s in clinical mental health counseling. Mount Union is preparing me for that by hosting seminars with graduation information, providing opportunities to receive help with applying to graduate school, and holding career fairs.
