I was interested in foreign language education and the second language acquisition, which are perfect for teaching Japanese.
I created the teacher licensure program in Japanese for the state of Ohio several years ago with the cooperation of colleagues in my department. We currently have several students who have pursued or are pursuing the licensure in Japanese.
I use a communicative approach. I also utilize several multimedia instruments for enhancing students’ language skills and for drawing their interest. I construct creative classroom activities for students so that they can learn the language with excitement.
It is very exciting when former students contact me after graduating and tell me what they are doing in their careers.
The Kolenbrander-Harter Information Center (KHIC) is my favorite building on campus. I like the post-modern architectural style, and my office is also located where I can view the Campus Lakes.
