Shakespeare At The Castle: Macbeth

Purchase Tickets Here

The sixth season of Shakespeare at the Castle (SATC) kicks-off with four performances of “Macbeth” at Alliance’s historic Glamorgan Castle, Thursday July 25 – Sunday, July 28.

“Macbeth” is the story of a Scottish general, whose ambitions to become King of Scotland cause him to murder those around him in an attempt to keep himself in power and his secrets buried.

The “Macbeth” adaptation will be directed by Thom Hofrichter.  Hofrichter is the managing artistic director at First Presbyterian Theater in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

“I love acting because I love storytelling. I love directing, because I love getting to shape how the story gets told, in collaboration with the storytellers,” said Hofrichter.

The cast includes Joe Pine, Gary Lamb and Natalie Kern, among others.

Kevin P. Kern, who is assistant professor and chair of the Department of Theatre at Mount Union and artistic director of SATC is excited to bring the community this unique adaptation of Macbeth.

“We’re going to tell you a story of greed and power, but instead of wearing tights, our Macbeth will be the leader of an outlaw motorcycle gang.  Think of it as Shakespeare meets Sons of Anarchy,” says Kern.

All four performances begin at 7 p.m. with pre-show entertainment beginning at 6:20 p.m. The Glamorgan Castle grounds will open for picnicking at 5:30 p.m. Papa Gyros will also be on hand selling desserts and drinks prior to the show and during the intermission.

General Admission pre-sale tickets are $20 for adults and $18 for seniors, veterans and students.  Lawn and bleacher pre-sale tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for seniors, veterans and students.  Tickets will be available for purchase online and at the box office until 4 p.m. the day of each performance. All tickets at the gate will be $25 for general admission seating and $15 for lawn and bleacher seating.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.mountunion.edu/Shakespeare or by calling the Mount Union box office at (330) 821-2565.
