Minor in German 

Highlight your skills and drive with a minor German from the University of Mount Union. This program complements a number of other majors and  prepares you to work in an international field.  


About the Program 

Seize the unique opportunity to learn the language, history and literature through our German program at the University of Mount Union. You will also learn to communicate effectively, and the minor is structured so you can pair it with most disciplines and still have time to spend a semester or summer in a study abroad site in Germany.

  • Study abroad and service-learning trips are available to help students gain practical experience with multiple languages 
  • Internships and Awards are available through the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange and the German Academic Exchange Service

    German Curriculum     

    As a German minor, you will study the speaking, listening and writing skills of the language, as well as gain a comprehensive understanding of German culture and literature. You will also explore careers and professions available to students and spend a period of time living and learning in a German-speaking country to experience the culture firsthand.

    Our minor in German prepares you to:     

    • Demonstrate the level of proficiency necessary to enable them to function in an environment where German is used exclusively.  Students will demonstrate speaking, listening, reading, and writing in German. 
    • Learn the cultures and civilizations of the principal groups of people who speak German, from a variety of perspectives, including the historical, geographical, sociopolitical, literary and artistic. 
    • Grow awareness of the relevance of foreign languages to professions and careers.
