Becoming a Raider

I learned about the University of Mount Union through a UMU representative that visited my high school. I also knew of some students that attend Mount Union. I chose to come to Mount after talking to students and faculty in the neuroscience program. I felt that the class sizes and curriculum best fit my needs! I also received the Trustee’s Scholarship.

Higher Education in Neuroscience

I chose neuroscience as my major because I have always been fascinated with learning more about the brain and how the human mind and body functions. I have a passion for helping others and feel that I will be able to do that as a result of my education in neuroscience. My ultimate career goal is to become a physician assistant, specializing in neurology.

Benefits of the Integrative Core

The Integrative Core has bettered my communication and public speaking skills. I have become a better writer and feel more prepared for job interviews in the future due to the requirements associated with the Integrative Core. Through the small class sizes and one on one experiences with the professors, I have been able to succeed in the classroom. As a result of the small class sizes we are able to do demos and hands on learning that better my understanding of various topics. Mount Union's various course offerings, curriculum and the help of my advisor has prepared me for PA school and life after graduation!

Advice to Prospective Students

Choose the place where you see yourself succeeding academically and socially. Pick the place where you feel the most at home! The relationships that I have made with not only my peers, but also with my professors has truly made Mount Union feel like home for me. I have developed life-long friendships and leadership skills through my education here!
