History major

Mount Union has helped me out greatly in understanding how to educate children and helping them become responsible, caring adults.

Choosing UMU

I live pretty close to campus, and I always thought the campus looked so beautiful. It’s always so well kept! I also heard that they had a great track and field program, which is something I wanted to do in college. After deciding Mount was for me, I received the Founders Scholarship and UMU Gift. My advice to students choosing a college is to make sure that you go somewhere where you can see yourself. If you don’t see yourself as a student there, that’s not a good sign. The people make Mount feel like a home away from home! Everyone is so nice, and the atmosphere is very relaxed and fun.

Career Aspirations

I would like to be a high school history teacher, since my major/minor is in teaching. I always thought history was interesting and underappreciated as a subject. History is important to understanding our world and why things are the way that they are today. I always enjoyed teaching students new things and watching them grow as people and as students. As soon as I took my first education class, I knew instantly that this was my calling. Mount Union has helped me out greatly in understanding how to educate children and helping them become responsible, caring adults.

Opportunities through Mount

I like doing field observations for teaching. It’s so neat to go to different schools and seeing how they’re different from one another. The humanities courses in particular help you see different points of view, which is always important in the workplace. If we can’t respect one another’s opinions and backgrounds, then we can’t move forward.
