Why Mount Union?
I heard about Mount Union from my father’s close friend who is a retired registrar of Thiel College. I told him about my interest in engineering and he recommended Mount to me. I chose Mount because of its love for diversity and its well-respected engineering program. I received an international student scholarship and it made the tuition cheaper for my parents, therefore it was easier for them to pay for it.
I chose mechanical engineering as my major because I have been interested in motor vehicles, planes, and all the other mechanical things that surround us from a very small age. I am passionate about it and enjoy it very much. Therefore, I decided it would be good for both myself and my career. I feel like the Integrative Core will make me a better professional in my field as it teaches me things outside my major that are still relevant, like teaching me how to give presentations and speeches, write papers, and much more.
After coming to Mount, I have met many people who are very friendly and I also applied to be a Preview Guide, which is an on-campus job. The training process for this job has taught me leadership qualities, managing time, being more conscious, and many other things while still having fun. Mount has helped me grow as a person and my favorite experiences at Mount are talking to new people and making friends, as everyone at Mount is very friendly, accepting, and easy to talk to.
My ultimate career goal is to open a business related to Mechanical Engineering. Mount is preparing me to do this with its Integrative Core program.
