ArtFest: Annual Artist Showcase

ArtFest 2015ArtFest, sponsored by the University of Mount Union and the Alliance Area Chamber of Commerce, annually features original works by area artists showcasing various media including watercolor, oil, ceramics, fine crafts, photography, jewelry and printmaking, among others. The event features artwork that is both on display and for sale.

In 2015, ArtFest will return again to its historic location around the Campus Lakes of Mount Union. The event will be held on Saturday, September 19 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. in conjunction with Family Day and the Mount Union vs. Muskingum football game.

Last year’s event, which hosted more than 50 vendors and 3,000 visitors, proved to be one of the most successful of the past 50 years.

In addition to art displays and sales, ArtFest will include:

Taste of Alliance
"A Taste of Alliance,” coordinated by the Alliance Chamber of Commerce, will take place simultaneously, featuring food and beverages for sale by area restaurants and caterers including Frank’s Family Restaurant, Rose’s Hillcrest Market, College Inn, Kathy’s Korner, Vert Deli, Pucci’s Pub and Vino and Chives Grille.

Musical Entertainment
Entertainment will be provided throughout the day by Mount Union and Alliance area musicians. Adam Infantino, a Mount Union student, will perform from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by Mary Pusateri from noon to 2 p.m. Rock, Salt & Nails will conclude performances from 2 to 4 p.m.

Live Demonstration
At ArtFest, there will be live demonstrations of artists at work.

Children’s Art Activity
This year, ArtFest will again host a children’s activity from 10 a.m. to noon in which children can create their own masterpieces in a coloring activity celebrating the 100th anniversary of Alliance Area Chamber of Commerce. Their works will be displayed at the Children’s Gallery from 2 to 4 p.m.

Jurying of Fine Arts
Jurying of Fine Arts will occur from 10 to noon. This year’s judge is Daniel T. Chrzanowski, an artist, painter, printmaker, wood worker and luthier of classical guitars. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Columbus College of Fine Arts and worked at American Greetings for more than 37 years as an illustrator, artist and manager of the Media and Techniques Studio. He has exhibited in numerous juried art shows and galleries and was featured in an exhibit in Mount Union’s Otto Art Gallery in March of 2015. The fine arts award ceremony will take place at 1 p.m.
