ArtFest: Annual Artist Showcase

ArtFest, sponsored by the University of Mount Union and the Alliance Area Chamber of Commerce, annually features original works by area artists showcasing various media including watercolor, oil, ceramics, fine crafts, photography, jewelry, and printmaking, among others. The event features artwork that is both on display and for sale.

In 2017, the 53rd Annual ArtFest will again be held at its historic location around the Campus Lakes of Mount Union. The event will be held on Saturday, September 23 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. in conjunction with the Mount Union vs. Baldwin Wallace football game and M Club Hall of Fame. 

In the past, ArtFest has hosted more than 50 vendors and 3,000 visitors.

In addition to art displays and sales, ArtFest will include:

Taste of Alliance
Alliance area restaurants and caterers will also be at ArtFest selling food and beverages for visitors and community members to enjoy as they browse. 

Musical Entertainment
The event will provide local musical entertainment from Alliance and Mount Union. 

Live Demonstration
At ArtFest, there will be live demonstrations of artists at work. 

Children’s Art Activity
The Alliance Chamber of Commerce will host a children's coloring contest in celebration of its 100th Anniversary. 

Jurying of Fine Arts
Dr. Louis Zona, executive director of the Butler Institute of American Art and professor emeritus of art history at Youngstown State University (YSU) will be this year's judge. Zona earned his B.S. in education, M.S. in art education, and Doctor of Arts degree. He has been in his role at The Butler, the first museum in the world dedicated to American art, since 1982, and he is credited with expanding its reach and assisting in opening satellite facilities in Salem and Howland, Ohio.
