English and Political Science double major

During my first year at Mount Union, I was having a difficult time adjusting to being away from home. My [lacrosse] coach and professors were supportive, being there when I needed them, and they were very understanding when I needed to take emergency trips home.

Career Readiness

I'd like to pursue a career in journalism, and my professors have helped me find real-world opportunities to gain the skills necessary to thrive in the future. Some of those experiences include working on a public service campaign in my global politics course, alongside traveling to Denver, Colorado with Raider Student Media "RSM" to participate in the College Broadcasters Inc., "CBI" convention. I was able to network with other students and businesses in the media industry.

Overcoming Homesickness in College

During my first year at Mount Union, I was having a difficult time adjusting to being away from home. This was my first time leaving home, and I was missing so many important things. My mind was always elsewhere, thinking about my sick family members or my sister's new twins that I hadn't met yet, and I just couldn't stay focused. My parents were amazing, keeping me in the loop and visiting me when I needed company. My [lacrosse] coach and professors were supportive, being there when I needed them, and they were very understanding when I needed to take emergency trips home. I felt like I would never outgrow that struggle, but my second year was very different. I was happier and healthier, and I learned to lean on the people I have at Mount when I needed them.
