Responsibilities and Expectations for All Campus Community Members
All students, faculty, and staff are expected to fully comply with policies, protocols, and guidelines as outlined within the Fall 2020 Responsible Reopening Guide. Failure to do so may result in referral to the Office of Student Conduct (students) or Office of Human Resources (faculty and staff).
The University of Mount Union holds as paramount the health, safety, and welfare of our community. As such, the University has adopted many policies for our faculty, staff, students, and visitors in an effort to address the risks posed to our community by COVID-19. However, taking steps to reduce the risk and spread of COVID-19 is the shared responsibility of every member of our community. Therefore, as the University prepares for the return of students to campus for in-person classes and residential living for the 2020-2021 academic year, it is our expectation and requirement that our students will review, understand, and comply with each of the following health and safety responsibilities and expectations:
- Students, faculty, and staff acknowledge that the University cannot guarantee a COVID-19-free environment, and the efforts being taken by the University to reduce the risk and spread of COVID-19 cannot ensure that campus community members will not be exposed to or contract COVID-19.
- Students understand and have considered their own personal health status and increased risk factors inherent with a shared learning and living environment, including the risk of exposure or infection by COVID-19, when deciding to return to campus.
- Faculty and staff understand and have considered their own personal health status and increased risk factors inherent with a shared work environment, including the risk of exposure or infection by COVID-19, and shared any concerns with their supervisor, area vice president, or the Office of Human Resources.
- Students, faculty, and staff are expected to adhere to University guidelines intended to minimize risk of exposure to COVID-19 consistent with health and safety guidance, including, but not limited to, Mount Union's Four Health Habits during COVID-19.
- Students, faculty, and staff may be required to submit to symptom checking or COVID-19 testing to access campus facilities and activities, should that be deemed necessary.
- Students agree that if they test positive for COVID-19 or they receive notice/contact from any public health department agency or medical professional about possible exposure to COVID-19 and/or instruction to self-quarantine or isolate, they will immediately disclose such information to the Dean of Students, the Student Health Center, or other designated staff.
- Faculty and staff agree that if they test positive for COVID-19 or they receive notice/contact from any public health department agency or medical professional about possible exposure to COVID-19 and/or instruction to self-quarantine or isolate, they will immediately disclose such information to their supervisor, area vice president, or the Office of Human Resources.
- Students, faculty, and staff agree to comply with University direction requiring isolation and quarantine.
- Students are required to comply with all health and safety law, orders, ordinances, policies, regulations, and guidance adopted by the University as it relates to COVID-19, including, but not limited to the policies, protocols and guidelines outlined in this document, and failure to do so may result in referral to the Office of Student Conduct. This guidance may evolve as circumstances warrant. The University may require a student to leave campus in the event the student’s continued presence poses a health or safety risk to the campus community.
- Faculty and staff are required to comply with all health and safety law, orders, ordinances, policies, regulations, and guidance adopted by the University as it relates to COVID-19, including, but not limited to the policies, protocols and guidelines outlined in this document, and failure to do so may result in referral to the Office of Human Resources.
