Experiential Learning Opportunities
I've had the opportunity to travel to Washington D.C. to lobby on Capitol Hill and just recently, interned at the Ohio House of Representatives. As an intern at the state's house of representatives, I worked with constituent outreach and casework; I loved engaging with the community because it made me feel like I was making an impact in the state. Both lobbying on Capitol Hill and interning with the Ohio House of Representatives gave me critical skills in communication, articulation, and outreach. The Ohio House of Representatives internship also helped me develop proficiency in Excel.
Advice for Prospective Students
Go with your gut feeling and choose the college or university that feels like home. You will know where you belong if you follow your heart.
Why Mount Union?
The professors really make an effort to connect with their students and I feel like I have made lifelong connections and friendships with most of the students and faculty I’ve met here. Specifically, I've connected with Dr. Grossman, Dr. Halaseh, and Dr. Johnson, who have impacted my academic experience at Mount. Everything from helping me with varying career paths to just helping me build my schedule, Dr. Grossman has helped me get involved on campus, Dr. Halaseh has helped me with scheduling and academics, and Dr. Johnson has given me an opportunity few students get to have: lobbying on Capitol Hill.
