$60,000 Goal Reached in Virtual Stadium Sell Out

December 03, 2020

Thanks to the generosity of nearly 800 donors, the University of Mount Union’s student athletes and Purple Raider Marching Band received more than $60,000 in gifts as part of the institution’s Virtual Stadium Sell Out event.

The event, which took place the week of November 16, was an effort to support Mount Union’s athletic teams, marching band and M Club varsity letter-winners association after fall athletics were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The goal was reached after two $3,000 gifts were given to the football and wrestling programs by Steve Harter ’84 at the conclusion of the event.

Additional gifts of $1,000 each were given to the baseball team by Interim Athletic Director Mike Parnell and his wife, Karen for filling the most seats. Mount Union President Tom Botzman and his wife, Vanessa, also gave an extra $1,000 to the softball team as a result of its Virtual Team Captain, Head Coach Meghan Simons ‘10 encouraging 46 fans to give to the event.
