FEMA, OEMA to Donate 3,000 Masks to Mount Union

September 14, 2020

ALLIANCE, Ohio — As a result of efforts from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Ohio Emergency Management Agency, the University of Mount Union will be receiving a donation of approximately 3,000 non-medical KN-95 masks by the end of September.

The Ohio Library and Information Network (OhioLINK) has been working with the State of Ohio and the Ohio Department of Higher Education to disseminate one million masks to institutions across the state. More than 7.1 million masks will be distributed to schools of all levels across the state as part of the FEMA initiative.

“It’s wonderful that the face masks donation from FEMA will be shared with colleges and universities in Ohio,” said Carla Sarratt, director of libraries at Mount Union. “I appreciate the work that OhioLINK and the Ohio Department of Higher Education did to distribute masks using established processes that Ohio libraries use to transport library materials on a daily basis. I also appreciate the university’s administration for being committed to keeping all students safe and healthy during the pandemic.”
