Ohio Insurance Industry Resource Council Names UMU an Educational Partner

March 12, 2020

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio Insurance Industry Resource Council (IIRC) has named the University of Mount Union as its newest educational partner.

The IIRC will work with Mount Union’s program in risk management and insurance to help ensure that there will be talent available to fill the growing industry demand. This partnership will facilitate employment interview opportunities with member companies and increase the availability of industry speakers in classrooms at special events.

Mount Union is the 12th Ohio institution to be named an educational partner by the IIRC as part of its “Insuring Ohio Futures” initiative.

“For nearly a decade the IIRC has focused its efforts on developing a direct talent path into the insurance industry, and we are eager to welcome Mount Union as our newest education partner,” said Mark Russell, CEO of Ohio Mutual Insurance Group and co-chairman of the IIRC. “Mount Union’s partnership will be important to sustaining and building the industry pipeline, and we look forward to collaborative efforts focused on increasing student enrollment and graduation rates in Ohio’s risk management and insurance programs.”

"Our university welcomes this great opportunity to partner with the IIRC and its member companies,” said Linda Ruse, director of Mount Union’s risk management and insurance program. “Students will benefit greatly from programs such as ‘adopt-a-school,’ in which member insurers will give priority to RMI majors on interviews and mentoring.”
