I love Mount Union because of the small school atmosphere. I think there's a place for everybody on campus and the school does a good job developing its students to be more than just scholars.

Education

B.A. School Social Work and B.A. Religious Studies, University of Mount Union

Location

Green, OH

The Director of Services oversees and manages the day-to-day operations at the center. I work closely with the organization's Board to ensure all services are current and relevant to the needs of the migrant community. These services include our free medical clinic, youth programming, hospitality events, educational programming, and spirituality services. I also manage these services from start to finish - fundraising, planning, implementing, and evaluating each program.

Why Mount Union?

I chose Mount Union because I wanted to attend a small school close to home that also had an engineering program, (I only ended up lasting one semester before changing to the above degrees which were a much better fit for me).

How do you stay connected to Mount Union?

A few years after graduating, I returned to Mount Union to work at the University Chaplain for two academic years. Through my current role at the Migrant Center, I work closely with with former colleagues, coordinating different events, internships and volunteer opportunities for Mount students.

What do you like best about your current job?

I love that each day is different. I enjoy the balance between administrative tasks and working directly with families and students. Most of all though, I love learning from the migrant community and developing amazing relationships with these unique members of our community!

Goals in your Career

During my career, I hope to grow the migrant center and continue expanding the reach and impact of our services. As the agricultural community continues to shift, I'm excited to find new and creative ways to engage this community and learn from the many assets they have to offer.
