- Acceptance to the program is contingent on the following:

- Documentation verifying the applicant can meet the Technical Standards for the MSOT program is required.
- All students must complete an FBI/BCI background check. While a conviction may not prevent a student from entering the program, applicants should know that a felony conviction may affect a graduate’s ability to sit for the NBCOT certification examination or attain state licensure.
Consideration for Conditional Admission: Applicants who do not meet the above criteria will be judged on a case-by-case basis and asked to submit additional documentation in an attempt to gain conditional admission. Candidates wanting to request a review for conditional admission will need to contact the graduate admission representative.
Transfer Credits
Transfer credits will be reviewed and considered on a case-by-case basis. Due to the variety of occupational therapy curricula and sequencing variations across programs, acceptance of transfer credit is not likely or guaranteed. Mount Union's MSOT program does not grant advanced placement, credit for experiential learning, or work experience toward degree requirements. Students wishing to have transfer credits considered should contact the graduate admissions representative once their application has been submitted.
MSOT Accreditation Status
The entry-level occupational therapy master’s degree program has applied for accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), located at 7501 Wisconsin Avenue, Suite 510E, Bethesda, MD 20814. ACOTE’s telephone number c/o AOTA is (301) 652-AOTA, and its web address is www.acoteonline.org. The program must be granted Candidacy Status, have a pre-accreditation review, complete an on-site evaluation, and be granted Accreditation Status before its graduates will be eligible to sit for the national certification examination for the occupational therapist administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). After successful completion of this exam, the individual will be an Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR). In addition, all states require licensure to practice; however, state licenses are usually based on the results of the NBCOT Certification Examination. A felony conviction may affect a graduate’s ability to sit for the NBCOT certification examination or attain state licensure.
