Arron received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Printmaking and Art Education from East Carolina University in Greenville, NC and his Master of Fine Arts degree in Printmaking and Book Arts from the University of Georgia, Athens Georgia. He has exhibited both nationally and internationally and has held academic appointments at the University of Georgia, Athens, Georgia, Kent State University, Kent, Ohio. Ohio University in Athens, Ohio and he is currently a Teaching Fellow with the Departments of Art and Integrative Core at the University of Mount Union.
Professor Margo Miller, recently honored as the Dr. Robert T. and Phyllis S. White Chair in Art. Margo has served as the Department of Art Chair since 2013. Having joined the Mount Union community in 2004, her Mount Union journey began as an Instructor and Gallery Director. Her prior collegiate teaching experience was extensive including the Cleveland Institute of Art, The University of Akron, Cuyahoga Community College, and Youngstown State University. Her artwork has received acceptance in numerous exhibits and collections throughout the United States and abroad. "During Spring 2020 I was awarded a sabbatical leave for professional research. The proposal included a series of paintings that dealt with seeing the abstraction in nature. Travel abroad and to national parks were in my plans. With the pandemic, these plans changed radically. Painting on-site or in other states became an impossibility. The work created became studio work that utilized automatism, visualizing, and photographs from prior trips. The paintings shown are a sampling of my sabbatical research. With the shortened semester, my originally scheduled sabbatical exhibit planned for November 2020 has been postponed until 2021."
Lisa received her Bachelor of Science degree from Bournemouth University in the UK, a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education from Northbrook College, UK, and her Master of Fine Arts degree in Visual Communication Design from Kent State University. Lisa is a visual and interactive media designer with over two decades of industry experience across the globe. “I began my career as an artist, transferring those skills into the design community. Having set this foundation, I took advantage of great opportunities to grow in every aspect of graphic design. I was progressing through the ranks in well-respected creative Advertising and Brand Agencies, working with a broad range of clients. My study of sustainable graphics and packaging has reinforced my beliefs in positive change designing for good.” Lisa is a fulltime professor at Mount Union, graphic design concentration. Design thinking is a core part of her practice; Fall Semester, Lisa teaches Graphic Design, Typography, Illustration, and Visual Web under the Arts.
Erica is a mixed-media artist that combines materials in an intuitive manner to create paintings, collages, and installations varying scale. Her artwork often reflects on complexity, anxiety, and fragility while utilizing found materials, such as post-consumer waste, alongside traditional art materials. She earned her B.A. in visual art from the University of Mount Union and her M.F.A. in painting and drawing from Kent State University. Since graduating she has taught college classes throughout the region and exhibited her artwork regionally and nationally. Although her artwork may appear to be simple and cute at times, it requires a closer contemplative understanding of the relationship between the materials and oneself.
Michael received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting from the Cleveland Institute of Art in Cleveland, OH and his Master of Fine Arts degree in Drawing and Painting from the California State University, Long Beach. He has exhibited both nationally and internationally. Michael works as a freelance artist and teaches Drawing at the University of Mount Union.
Katie is a photographer and mixed-media artist currently based in Ohio. She received her MFA from The University of Iowa and has a BFA from The University of Akron in Ohio. Her work focuses on the intersection of environmental activism and personal issues, pulling inspiration from locations with a connection to her life. This work is grounded in scientific research, pulled from sources like Environmental Protection Agency and assorted conservation organizations. In addition to making these issues more accessible, her work communicates an important message: We must all work together to ensure a more sustainable future for all of us.
