Public relations major

I love being able to wake up in the morning for classes and know that I feel welcome and accepted.

Transferring to Mount Union

I am a transfer student! I transferred the second semester of my freshman year because I didn’t feel as if my previous institution was my true home. I am happy to say that Mount Union feels like my second home, and I am happy to be surrounded by so many loving and caring people who push me to succeed. Thankfully, I also received the Vocal Music Scholarship.

Finding the Right School

I would tell people looking at colleges to look for a campus that caters to their desired major, as well as somewhere they truly feel like they feel at home. That is the most important thing. I love being able to wake up in the morning for classes and know that I feel welcome and accepted. I have many close friends as well as awesome faculty members that support me fully and help me if I am struggling.

Why Public Relations?

I am not afraid to admit I have changed my major a total of two times. Ever since I was little, I always knew I would have a career in the fine arts. I just didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do. When I was at my previous institution, I was a vocal performance and opera major. Then when I first transferred to Mount, I was a music education major. Now I am majoring in public relations. I know that I have finally found my fit. Journalism and writing have always been one of my passions. I am hoping to be able to tie in music and theatre into my major and become a public relations practitioner for a professional theatre company someday.

Becoming Well-Rounded

I feel that my experience with the Integrative Core will make me a better professional in my field because I will have more well-rounded thinking as well as an insight on how other brain types work and understand. I haven’t had the opportunity to intern yet, but I am planning on reaching out to numerous theatre companies this year and hopefully have an opportunity over the summer. I am truly excited to be able to pursue that I love, and I know I will be able to grow not only as a public relations practitioner but as a person as well.
