Why Sport Business and Marketing?

I aspire to become a social media manager especially in the sports industry. Both programs are giving me the skills necessary to hold the position I want by helping me better my communication and teamwork skills. The extracurricular and hands-on opportunities I've received as a student are helping me visualize what my professional life will look like. I not only run track, but manage various social media accounts for Mount Union's athletic teams such as football and track and field. Through my involvement I am able to gain leadership skills and professional expertise, which not many students can participate in.

A Home Away From Home

I grew up hearing about Mount Union because my dad was a student and football player here. He speaks highly about the academic programs, campus community, and the unforgettable relationships he built with friends, teammates, and professors. When I started my college search, I knew that I wanted that same experience, so I decided to tour Mount Union. I loved that Mount Union strives for their students to achieve excellence both academically and athletically and that aligned with what I wanted in a school. My coaches, professors and teammates  challenge and push me to give the best of me, helping me reach my full potential, and I am grateful for that because I forged these relationships through Mount.

Advice to Prospective Students

When you visit schools ask lots of questions and try to picture yourself on that campus. Make sure that the school and the community align with your values as well. I love the community both in the classroom and on the track field. I always feel so supported by my teammates and coaches at practices, meets, and just in my day-to-day life. In the classroom, my classmates and professors are always there to help and are encouraging; I feel like everyone wants the best for each other here and I love being apart of this community. So, not only focus on the school's academic programs and excellence, but analyze the relationships of current students and faculty/staff.
