Physical education major

My ultimate career goal is to become a Head College Women’s Basketball Coach one day. Mount Union is preparing me for a successful future by learning from expert faculty and connecting me with influential people.

Why Education?

I chose physical education as my major because I love to help the youth and watch them grow physically and mentally. Coaching is my passion and I’d love to continue making that positive impact on my players and students. When I was looking at colleges and universities, Mount Union's Women's Basketball coach reached out to me and ultimately recruited me to play as a Purple Raider. As an educator and coach, I want to help students build the drive for their respective sport just like I have with basketball and track. My ultimate career goal is to become a head college women’s basketball coach one day. Mount Union is preparing me for a successful future by learning from expert faculty and connecting me with influential people.

Advice to Prospective Students

When beginning your college search, I would advise high school students to focus on the school's class size and overall distance from home. Another factor that played a role in my decision was the cultural diversity that there is at Mount Union as well as the financial aid opportunities I was offered. For those students wishing to continue playing a sport in college, conduct research on that school's athletic teams and especially the sport you want to play.

A Home Away from Home

Not only is Mount Union close to my home, but, I've grown academically, athletically, professionally, and as a person. I've made friendships that will last a lifetime and have gotten to make connections that will enhance my professional career goals. Mount Union provides endless opportunities for students to learn and grow as experts in their major; as an education major, I have student taught at many school districts. I loved building relationships with my students at Glenoak High School because it not only allowed me to carry out my teaching skills, but it also helped me analyze my growth as a student and professional.
