Outstanding Nursing Program

I ultimately want to work in the ICU once I graduate and eventually become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. Mount is helping me prepare for this with the exceptional opportunities I've gained through the nursing program.  Choosing to become a nurse led me to choose Mount Union as my second home. I've not only started my clinicals, but I've worked in a nursing home and hospital; I love taking care of others and seeing them get better makes me happy. Thanks to my aunt, who was a nurse, I chose to pursue my career in the medical field. I would sit and make cards for her patients with her while she'd tell me about her day.

Advice to Prospective Students

I would tell high school students to remember why they are pursuing a college education regardless of the challenges they may face. Whether it be a specific major, a sport, or a specific music program, the importance is that you can get the best education through hard work and perseverance. I've been able to carry out all my passions at Mount Union all thanks to my goals and the support system I've built on campus.

Overcoming Obstacles

Nursing is a difficult major. I have had to learn time management and balance my schedule to be able to be involved in student organizations and still be able to get good grades. Managing a skillset and time to interact with the campus community and friends can sounds like too much, but it has allowed me to destress from school. I've also had to remind myself to take some time to solely focus on myself, which I've become much better at this year!
