French Major
Job opportunities for graduates who speak French are abundant throughout the United States and around the world. These positions require fluency in the language, but also an understanding of the cultures and histories of French-speaking countries. With this in mind, we offer a unique program among schools our size - a major that combines language skills with courses in literature, film, culture and translation. You will truly be prepared for success in our global world.
French graduates have found success teaching in school districts throughout the country and around the world and in other fields for organizations including Federal Express.
Students of this program have also chosen to pursue graduate study at institutions including Illinois State University, Indiana University, University of Pittsburgh, University of Akron and Bowling Green State University.
The major in French is administered by the Department of Foreign Languages and Cultures, which also offers programs in Chinese, German, Japanese and Spanish.
