When I was in high school, I knew I wanted to attend a college that had strong academics, recreational opportunities and lots of different ways to get involved. I also wanted to attend a university that was committed to the environment and the community, and I felt like all of these things were important at Mount Union.
Japanese Major
As one of only three college or universities in the state of Ohio to offer a Japanese major and teacher licensure, our rare yet innovative program combines knowledge of the language - both written and spoken - with an understanding of Japan's past, present and future. From the exploration of anime to translation of Japanese books, you will have the opportunity to not only learn the language, but understand and appreciate this fascinating culture and its importance in our world.
Japanese graduates have found success working as translators, business professionals, study abroad coordinators and teachers, both in the United States and abroad.
Students of the Japanese program have also chosen to pursue graduate study at institutions including Kent State University.
The major in Japanese is administered by the Department of Foreign Languages and Cultures, which also offers programs in Chinese, French, German and Spanish.
You may also want to check out Asian studies, English, writing, international business and economics and international studies.
