Career Aspirations

Upon graduating from Mount Union, I want to work in the U.S. Foreign Service. Mount Union is helping me hone my leadership and language skills, as well as providing me with the resources needed to make the necessary connections to get into this competitive field. My involvement in student organizations and study abroad have allowed me not only to build my skillset, but expand my worldview and global knowledge as well. The course material and faculty challenge me to work hard towards my academic and career goals whichs speaks highly of Mount Union and its goal to provide students with unique experiences that are tailored to their career aspirations. I certainly am glad that I chose to visit campus before making a final decision!

Overcoming Obstacles

Time management has been the biggest obstacle I've had to learn to overcome in college. I've always liked being involved whether that is in academic-based or student-led organizations, but have never liked to be bored just focusing on school material. Though, my first semesters of college taught me that in order to achieve academic excellence while enjoying time with friends, I needed to balance out my schedule. Dividing my time in order to complete homework, study time, and engage in extracurriculars as well as time with friends helped me gain responsibility skills as well.

Why Mount Union?

After receiving both paper mail and emails from Mount Union, I decided to tour the campus. When doing so, I met faculty part of the French program, and fell in love with the opportunities I would be able to take advantage of both in and outside the classroom. French faculty like Dr. Landry make course content engaging and fun to learn; the same passion he has to teach is the same passion I have to learn and expand my knowledge. Therefore, aside from declaring a French major, I decided to explore the international affairs and diplomacy and Spanish majors, making me a triple major. The recent real-world experience I've been apart of is traveling to Pau, France where I tested my French skills, immersed myself in the culture, and enjoyed learning about Europe.
