Choosing Mount Union
I heard about Mount Union through friends. I chose this school because of the staff to student ratio, small classes, and the beautiful campus. I received the Founder’s Scholarship, which impacted my decision to attend.

Making Mount Union Home
My townhouse, my nursing family and my sisters of ADPi make Mount Union feel like a second home. ADPi helped me adjust to college life the most. My favorite part of Mount is how much my professors care about my success. They are all extremely personable and always motivate me to do better, and having small classes helps. I cannot stress enough how amazing it is to have your professors actually know your name. I can honestly say all of my professors have been wonderful. Anytime I have a question, they never hesitate to assist me or make sure I understand the information.

Advice for Future Students
The only way to learn is to ask questions! Go to office hours and tutoring. I PROMISE it helps!

Majoring in Nursing
I have always watched my grandmother go in and out of the hospital. I was able to observe how well the nurses treated her, and I knew I wanted to be able to help others during times of distress.

Experiential Learning
I’ve done hands-on learning through my Health Assessment and Pharmacology labs, where we are able to practice vital signs on the mannequins and practice techniques with our classmates. I enjoy them being “hands-on” classes. Learning pharmacology is my favorite because it is extremely interesting how drugs work in the body and how many reactions they can cause.

Liberal Arts Education
Through the liberal arts you become well-rounded and step outside of your comfort zone. No matter what occupation one acquires, I believe everyone will have to step outside of their comfort zone to become successful. The classes I’ve taken so far required a lot of practice for presentations. It is extremely helpful for nursing because you will have to be able to communicate with and educate patients on the daily.

Future Career
My ultimate goal is to become a nurse practitioner. I would love to work in pediatrics, but I have a feeling that will change down the road. Mount Union is preparing me for my goal by providing me the best possible resources and knowledge I could receive.
