ALLIANCE – Dr. Nicole Johnson, professor of philosophy and religious studies, was named the University of Mount Union’s Great Teacher for 2022.

A member of the Mount Union faculty since 2007, Johnson earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in religion and political science from Westminster College, a Master of Arts degree in applied theology from Wheeling Jesuit University, and a Doctor of Theology degree in practical theology from the Boston University School of Theology.

One student nominator said, “I believe her to be a great teacher at this university because she teaches us to move our world closer to peace by being champions of justice, truth, and mercy within whatever careers we choose.”

The Great Teacher Award, initiated in 1962, is sponsored by the Mount Union Alumni Association and recognizes excellence in teaching.
