Regula Center Announces Spring Volunteer Opportunities

The Regula Center for Public Service and Civic Engagement at the University of Mount Union will be hosting an array of community service projects during the Spring 2020 semester.

The mission of the Regula Center is to promote public service and community outreach in the students at Mount Union. Any and all students are encouraged to sign up to volunteer for the following service opportunities.

The first service of the semester will be hosting Valentine’s parties at different nursing homes in the community. Volunteers must register in groups of two or more, and on February 11, the groups must stop by the Regula Center in Van den Eynden Hall to check in at 5:30 p.m. The Regula Center will provide decorations and games to take to each group’s assigned nursing home from 6-7 p.m.

On Tuesday, February 25 from 7-9 p.m., the Regula Center will be providing music and snacks for students who volunteer to make wreaths and blankets for hospital and nursing home residents. This event will be hosted in Van den Eynden Hall and require an RSVP beforehand.

Thursday, March 19, the Regula Center will be accepting donations of new baby clothes at the throughout the day, benefitting women and babies in the area through the Alliance Pregnancy Center. In addition, students can register online to volunteer from 4-6 p.m. to assemble hygiene kits at the Regula Center, which will be distributed to women and babies across Stark County. 

The Regula Center will also be making Easter themed gifts for nursing home residents in the form of “boo-boo bunnies” on Thursday, March 26. This volunteer opportunity will take place from 7-9 p.m. in Van den Eynden Hall, where snacks will be provided.

Global Youth Service Day will take place Saturday, April 18. The Regula Center will be hosting a clean-up at Alliance Parks from 9 a.m. - noon. Lunch will be provided to registered volunteers. The following weekend on Saturday, April 25, there will be a clean-up at the Stark Parks Trail from 9 a.m. - noon.
