ALLIANCE- “I remember looking at my dad, who was an iron worker, and asking him, “What’s a job you can do to just solve problems and puzzles all the time?” and he told me that was an engineer.”

A simple question led Taylor Cline ’16, lead project engineer at CESO, to determine the career she wanted to pursue. She has always loved problem-solving and with a desired career in mind, she followed a path that led her to achieve her goal of becoming a successful engineer.

With two programs in mind—The University of Akron’s College of Engineering and Polymer Science and the University of Mount Union’s civil engineering program, Cline chose to excel as a Purple Raider.

“[The words “private university” scare anyone, so] my mom didn’t even want to visit Mount,” said Cline. “We sat down with financial aid and learned how affordable Mount could be, and the rest is history.”

The endless opportunities Cline received at Mount Union have led her to be one of the 14% of women engineers in America. As a junior, Cline received an Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges Scholarship by CESO, Inc. This scholarship not only helped her achieve her collegiate goals but build a career as an engineer for the same company.

Travel experiences like the global engineering trip to Belize shaped Cline’s worldview as she learned about the importance of helping others along with gaining leadership skills.

“I was able to bond with my peers and serve an underdeveloped community, which helped shape me into the professional I am today,” said Cline.

In her eighth year at CESO, Inc., Cline wants to continue helping female students in STEM bridge the gap between male and female engineers.
