Impactful Faculty and Staff Members
Two faculty members who have had the biggest impact on my experience Mount are Marci Muckelroy and Michael Kachilla. Marci is truly like my campus mom. She has been such a constant source of support for me, especially during times when I was unsure about my path. She goes out of her way to check in, offer guidance, and make sure I feel confident in my decisions. Her encouragement and genuine care have made a huge difference in helping me adjust and feel like I truly belong on campus. I’m so thankful to have her as my Go-To Raider. Michael Kachilla, my Intro to Business professor, has also had a huge impact on me. He’s helped me see my potential in accounting and really pushed me to believe in myself. Through experiences like Raider Tank, which he organizes, I’ve been able to grow my confidence and step outside of my comfort zone.
Attending an "And" School
I first heard about Mount Union through a mix of athletic and academic promotions, and it quickly stood out to me. What really made me choose Mount was the strong sense of community. Mount Union feels like a place where people genuinely support each other, and where I get the opportunity to balance my goals both in the classroom and on the volleyball court. The academic programs aligned perfectly with what I want to do in the future, which made it feel like the right fit for me.
Overcoming Obstacles as a First-Year Student
One of the biggest obstacles I’ve had to overcome was changing my major from biology on the pre-PA track to accounting on the pre-law track. It was a difficult decision because it meant stepping away from a path I had planned for a long time and embracing something new and uncertain. At first, I was worried about making the wrong choice and that I would be too far behind, but through that process, I learned to trust myself and what I truly wanted. Looking back, it was one of the most important decisions I’ve made, and it helped me find a path that better aligns with my goals and who I am.
