Career Goals in Biology
I've always been drawn to nature. I spent my summers hiking, fishing, swimming, and exploring the woods with my brothers as a kid. In high school, I got to study biology more in depth and learned about the environmental issues the world is currently facing. I hope to one day make a difference and educate others about our planet. I want to be a biologist someday and work in a lab setting. UMU is giving me hands-on learning experiences through labs - observing organisms and gaining field experience conducting my own experiments.
Experiential Learning Opportunities
I've had many hands-on learning experiences through labs during my time at Mount Union that'll prepare me for my future career. My favorite experience has been going on the wilderness trip where I was able to learn about our impacts on the environment and experience for myself how to live in nature. I made new lifelong friends and overcame physical and mental challenges, creating an unforgettable experience.
Advice to Prospective Students
Research the institutions you're interested in as well as tour their campuses. If you know current students attending the university or college you'd like to attend, reach out to them, ask questions and learn about the institution from their point of view. That's how I learned about UMU! I knew a few alumni and friends who attended Mount Union, and I decided to schedule a visit.
