Dedication as a Graduate Student
I chose UMU because the program utilized both didactic and problem-based learning methods to help students learn and sharpen their clinical skills. Another major selling point was the faculty, each of them were genuinely passionate and sincere about helping us throughout our time in the program.
A Career That's More Than a Job
I am currently an outpatient orthopedic PT for the Cleveland Clinic. We primarily focus on rehabilitating patients with musculoskeletal conditions (i.e. total knee replacements, fractures, and ligament tears). I wanted to pursue a career in physical therapy because I wanted to be in a field where I could help people achieve their optimal physical function being able to remain active. I love seeing the progress patients make throughout their plan of care and helping them optimize their functional movement and quality of life.
Advice to Future Physical Therapists
The best advice that I can give to any current or future DPT students is to lean on your resources. The faculty is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, and personally, studying with my classmates was beneficial when there were topics that were especially difficult.
