Becoming a DPT

My parents are from small towns in Oaxaca, Mexico where healthcare options are limited to the public. Specifically, both of their hometowns do not have a physical therapy clinic, and that was my primary motivation to pursue this field. I want to help people access the health services they need and I can do so as a physical therapist. I have gained meaningful skills that will enhance my career upon graduation. I have spent time in a private practice, an outpatient balance center, and a physician-owned sports medicine clinic. I believe the variety of my rotations along with great clinical instructors has helped me understand how the textbook translates to real life application.

Choosing Mount Union

The University of Mount Union has core faculty that go above and beyond for their students. I have received unconditional support from my professors and wholeheartedly believe they care about their students education and overall well-being. I was repeatedly denied admission to my Alma mater’s DPT program amongst other schools for 3 years as I applied to graduate schools. I applied once to the University of Mount Union and they were the ONLY program, after about 30 school applications, that allowed me to interview and then ultimately granted me admission.  I know that my dreams can be achieved at Mount Union not only thanks to my hard work, but also to my professors who commit to guiding and preparing me for a career in the medical field.
