Students in a Mount Union classroom

Transfer Students

Applying to Mount Union is easy, and transferring is even easier. The Mount Union curriculum is transfer friendly and helps you get the most out of your previously-earned credits. For courses to transfer, they must have been earned at a regionally accredited institution, reflect a grade of "C" or higher, and be in an equivalent program offered by Mount.

  • Application Requirements

A transfer student to the University of Mount Union is defined as student who has been registered for one or more courses at another university, with the exception of a student who was enrolled under the College Credit Plus Program. Consideration for admission as a transfer student requires a minimum cumulative grade point average of a 2.0 (on an A = 4.0 scale; 2.0 = C) at the institution previously attended and documentation of good academic standing and honorable disciplinary standing on the Dean's Evaluation Form.

Students applying for admission as a transfer student to the University of Mount Union will need to:

    • Transfer Student Application for Admission
    • Application essay
    • A minimum 2.0 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale
    • Official high school transcript
    • Official college transcript(s) from all colleges/universities attended
    • Student Standing Evaluation Form, to be completed by the student’s most recent institution to confirm good standing and eligibility for immediate re-enrollment.

If you've already started your admission application, make sure to log in to the Application Portal to check for updates and finalize your application.

  • Courses for Transfer Students

TRF-100 Transfer Student Seminar (1 Credits)

This 8-week course will help transfer students who transfer in fewer than 48 credit hours transition to Mount Union, learn about the meaning and purpose of a liberal education, and understand the purpose and requirements of the Integrative Core. The course will also help transfer students integrate work they have done elsewhere in preparation for the Raider Foundations Portfolio (RFP), previously known as the WOC Portfolio. This course is a graduation requirement for all transfer students and is to be completed in the first semester at Mount Union. Prerequisite: Transfer student standing. 1 Semester Hour. Offered S/U only. Typically offered fall and spring. Advanced transfer students (those transferring in at least 48 credit hours, including successful completion of College Writing, or equivalent, and Public Speaking, or equivalent) substitute TRF 200.

TRF-200 Advanced Transfer Student Sem (2 Credits)

This 16-week course will help advanced transfer students (those who transfer in at least 48 credit hours) transition to Mount Union, learn about the meaning and purpose of a liberal education, and understand the purpose and requirements of the Integrative Core. In addition, students will refine their writing and speaking skills, choose and revise writing and speaking assignments, and complete a Raider Foundations Portfolio (RFP), previously known as the WOC Portfolio. At the end of the course, students' written and speaking proficiency will be assessed. This course replaces TRF 100 and is a graduation requirement for all advanced transfer students and is to be completed in the first semester at Mount Union. Prerequisites: Transfer student standing, and 48 or more credit hours earned, including successful completion of College Writing (or equivalent) and Public Speaking (or equivalent). 2 Semester Hours. • Transferring Credits to Mount Union

The Mount Union curriculum is transfer friendly and helps you get the most out of your previously-earned credits. For courses to transfer, they must have been earned at a regionally accredited institution, reflect a grade of "C" or higher, and be in an equivalent program offered by Mount. Official transcripts will be the basis for determining what, if any, transfer credit will be accepted by the University of Mount Union; such determination will be made by the Office of the University Registrar at the time of admission on a course-by-course basis.

To find out more about transferring your credits, you can submit your unofficial college transcripts to credit_transfer@mountunion.edu and get a credit evaluation.
