Choosing Mount Union

I found out about Mount Union through the Director of Bands who is a colleague of my dad; the steel band at Mount caught my attention. Once I explored the campus and academic opportunities, I was fascinated. The friends I have made here and the faculty I’ve interacted with are some of the best people I've ever met. Director of bands, Jeff Neitzke is objectively and subjectively the kindest man I have ever met in my life and this is not an exaggeration. He is always ready to educate, joke around, and provide support in whichever way he can. He is truly incredible and extraordinarily humble.

Why Media and French

I chose Media as my major because I have a passion for film-making. I am fascinated by all the equipment and technology of production, and most excited when I see a script come to life on screen. I chose French as my second major because I always wanted to speak a second language and I am looking forward to experiencing all the international opportunities abroad this will bring me. When thinking of a career, I want to pursue one that will help me further develop my interpersonal and professional skills. As a student, Mount has helped me build these skills through the many learning opportunities such as film productions for Raider Student Media (RSM) with my friends and study abroad.

Advice to Future Raiders

For students looking at colleges and universities, remember that it is so much more than a degree. Take your time in deciding the path that is right for you. However, small class sizes foster more personal connections with instructors which creates a wonderful learning environment. Once you find your home away from home, the rest is destined to fall into place. Learning to live independently and manage my own schedule has been the toughest obstacle to overcome. Although there will be many obstacles you'll need to overcome, you will not have to overcome them alone.
