Digital, Written and Oral Communication Studio

The Digital, Written and Oral Communication (DWOC) Studio is located in the Mount Union Library, across from the circulation desk. Its mission is to provide a space, technologies, and peer consultations to Mount Union students who are working on writing, oral presentations, and multimedia projects. Consultants provide help with critical thinking at the beginning stages of a project and with support through the writing, speaking, and production process. We can help with essays, reports, employment and graduate school documents, public speeches, PowerPoints, Prezis, videos, audio projects, ePortfolios, and with the Raider Foundations Portfolio required of all second year students as part of the Integrative Core.

  1. Joy Beach

    Hi there! My name is Joy, and I am a sophomore biology major on a pre-med track! On campus, I play the trumpet for multiple music ensembles. I am also the junior editor for Calliope and a member of the Honors Program. In my spare time, I enjoy listening to true crime stories, playing the piano, reading, and gardening. I am looking forward to getting to meet you and helping you with any of your communication needs!

  2. Rae Carruthers

    Hi everyone! My name is Rae, and I’m a junior majoring in writing, Spanish, and sociology with a minor in criminal justice. On campus, I am a member of the Honors Program, Alpha Lambda Delta, Sigma Tau Delta, and Alpha Mu Gamma. In addition, I participate in clubs such as H.O.L.A, G.E.M, and Peace Building Society. I am looking forward to my first year as a DWOC Studio consultant and hope to use my passion for writing and multifaceted academic background to help you with any communication needs you may have!

  3. Allie Cox

    Hello! My name is Allie Cox, and I am a senior majoring in English. After graduation, I would like to attend law school. On campus, I am a Student Ambassador, member of the orchestra, Alpha Xi Delta, Honors Program, Alpha Lambda Delta, Order of Omega, and serve as the Vice President of Student Senate and Senior class officer. I have always enjoyed reading and writing, as well as helping others. I am looking forward to my third year as a DWOC Studio consultant!

  4. Abigail Franks

    Hi there! My name is Abby Franks, and I am a sophomore transfer student here at UMU! I am an accounting major who hopes to eventually become a CPA after graduating with my bachelor’s degree. On campus, I am a member of the Women’s Tennis team and the Honors Program. Aside from reading, writing, and playing tennis, I also love watching movies, listening to music, and spending time with my dog. I look forward to my first year as a DWOC Studio consultant and hope that I can help as many fellow students as possible!

  5. Ashton Knappenberger

    Hey there! My name is Ashton, and I am a sophomore triple majoring in public relations, English, and Spanish. On campus, I am a Student Ambassador, Preview Guide, and on the Honors Council. I also coach middle school volleyball and work as a liaison for a non-profit organization. Essentially, I get paid to talk! Outside of classes, I relax by reading murder mysteries, going on walks, or watching Cleveland’s sports teams. I look forward to helping you refine your work and learning from the students that come into the studio!

  6. Alexandria Patrone

    Hello, everyone! My name is Alexandria, and I am a junior here at Mount Union. I am a management major, with the aspirations of attending law school. On campus, I actively participate on the Women’s Golf team as well as in my sorority, Alpha Xi Delta! I am also a member of Alpha Lambda Delta, Sigma Tau Delta, and the Student Athlete Advisory Committee. Aside from my involvement on campus, I am also a seasonal assistant coach for the PGA Junior League teams at my home course. In my spare time, I enjoy writing for myself, getting coffee, all things Disney, and spending time with my friends as well as my younger sister. I am extremely passionate about writing and public speaking, and looking forward to seeing you in the studio!

    Hi! My name is Molly, and I am a senior majoring in Human Development and Family Science with a minor in Exercise Science. I am involved in Alpha Phi Omega. Throughout my time at Mount Union, I have gained plenty of experience regarding internships, Greek Life, planning events, and making memories. If you ever have any questions, do not hesitate to ask. I also work at White Physical Therapy, which is across from the Student Mail Center. I enjoy playing intramural sports when I don’t hurt myself, and I like to attend as many sporting events as possible. I like to read and write poetry which brings me here. Hope to meet you soon!

    Hi there! My name is Marissa, and I am a junior majoring in English with a minor in AYA education. You can find me all around campus, from performing with the theatre to giving campus tours to incoming families. In my spare time, I love creative writing, community service, and dance. As much as I enjoy writing, I find it even more exciting to help people get the thoughts in their heads into the world, whether on paper or spoken.     Hello! My name is Alexis, but most people on campus know me as Lexi. I am currently a senior double majoring in English and Spanish with a minor in Gender Studies and Peacebuilding. On campus I am involved in  the Honors Program. I’m also one of the editors of Calliope and a member of the Student Senate. Outside of school I play piano, love to kayak, read, write, and, most importantly, spend time with my dog, Lila. I have always had a passion for reading and writing, and I’m very excited to get the opportunity to work with all of you. I hope to see you guys soon!

    Hey there! I’m Emma and I’m a junior majoring in English with minors in French and History. I’m becoming a teacher, so I love to help out where I can, including with academic assignments!  I’m involved in a whole bunch of campus organizations, such as Book Club, French Culture Club, PRIDE, Calliope, Cantus, Alpha Lambda Delta and the Honors Program.     Hello, my name is Martina Starkey, and I am a senior majoring in psychology and minoring in peacebuilding and social justice. On campus I am involved in Alpha Chi Omega, honors council, concert band, color guard in the marching band, flute ensemble and dance marathon. In addition to the DWOC, I also work in the business office and the box office. During my (limited) free time I am typically reading or spending time with my friends and family.   12. Noah Stewart

    Hello, I’m Noah! I am currently a junior music major here at Mount Union. Piano is my primary instrument. If you walk through Cope Music Hall and hear somebody practicing piano, there’s a ninety percent chance it’s me! I also participate in the Purple Raider Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, and Concert Band. For the Marching Band, I play mellophone. For the Wind Ensemble and Concert Band, I play French horn. In addition to these three ensembles, I’m a member of the music honors fraternity, Mu Phi Epsilon. I can’t wait to help you with your paper or presentation. Since I began taking college classes, I have become more comfortable writing and presenting. I hope I can help you become more comfortable with these assignments as well!
