Presidential Scholarship Program

The Presidential Scholarship Program is open to high school seniors demonstrating outstanding academic achievement and exceptional aptitude. The Presidential Scholarship Program awards a full tuition scholarship to eight students annually. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years. Please read the information below for scholarship eligibility, the application process, and timeline.

  1. Presidential Scholarship Recipient Awards and Benefits

    Presidential Scholarship recipients will recieve the following:

    • A full-tuition Presidential Scholarship to Mount Union. The awards are based upon the tuition rate each year and are renewable for up to a total of four years (eight semesters), provided the recipient maintains a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
    • Eligibility to participate in the University’s Honors Program and special Honors activities and events.
    • The opportunity to participate in future Presidential Scholarship programs as hosts and members of interview teams.
  2. Eligibility

    High school seniors who are eligible for the Presidential Scholarship include those who have been admitted to Mount Union with either a GPA of at least 3.75 or a GPA of at least 3.6 combined with a minimum ACT score of 30 or SAT score of 1360 (EBRW+Math) is eligible to receive one of Mount Union’s full-tuition Presidential Scholarships. 

  3. How to Apply
    1. Students must first complete an application for admission to the University and be admitted. Once admitted, students must then submit the Presidential Scholarship application in their application portal. 

      • If you have already been admitted to the University, please log in to your application portal to check your eligibility.

    2. Once admitted, eligible students must submit the Presidential Scholarship application by November 8, 2021 to be considered. The Presidential Scholarship application requires students to submit a 300-word essay and record a three-minute video. Prompts for each submission will be provided. Students can access the Presidential Scholarship application in their application portal.

    3. Faculty members from Mount Union will review applications and select the top 60 students to compete in the program. All participating candidates will be notified of the results by November 20, 2021.

    4. The 60 selected students will be invited to Mount Union’s campus to compete on Saturday, December 4, 2021. Students will be interviewed by several members of our campus community. A virtual option will be available for students who are unable to attend in person.

    5. All participants, including the eight Presidential Scholarship recipients, will be notified of the results by December 17, 2021.

  4. Policy for Multiple Merit Awards

    A merit-based scholarship or award is offered without regard for financial need. Students who may be eligible for multiple Mount Union scholarships and awards will receive at least the value of the highest scholarship or award.

    Consideration that is given for any portion of a second scholarship or award from Mount Union will be based on financial need and will require that the student file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The maximum award equals full tuition; students who receive a full tuition scholarship are not eligible for additional Mount Union scholarships or awards. All University scholarships, awards, and grants are coordinated through the Office of Student Financial Aid.

    Following the NCAA Division III philosophy, the University of Mount Union does not offer athletic scholarships. The University does award scholarships and financial aid for student athletes on the same basis as it does for every other Mount Union student.
