Career Goals in Education
My ultimate career goal is to become a special education teacher and later pursue a master’s degree to become a behavioral analyst. Mount Union is helping me achieve this by giving me a strong foundation in special education through both coursework and field experience. Special education, in particular, is important to me because I believe every child deserves the opportunity to learn in a way that meets their unique needs. Combining these two majors allows me to reach a wide range of students and provide both academic and emotional support.
Being Part of a Legacy
I first learned about the University of Mount Union through my family, as it has always been part of my family. My brother and several other relatives attended, and they often shared their positive experiences and memories from their time as students. Hearing their stories about the close-knit community, supportive professors, and campus life made me curious to experience it for myself. I was also drawn to the strong academic programs and the welcoming atmosphere I felt when I visited campus. Ultimately, I chose Mount Union because it felt like the perfect place to continue my education while carrying on a meaningful family tradition.
Overcoming Obstacles in College
One of the biggest challenges I've encoutered in college has been adjusting to the demands of balancing college coursework with hands-on field placements. It pushed me to develop strong time management skills and taught me how to stay organized and become flexible. While it may not be a big obstacle, learning to manage these responsibilities has made me a stronger student and future educator.
