Career Development

Career Development's mission is to help students plan and prepare for life after graduation. We accomplish this by providing individual advising appointments and assessments, hosting recruiting and networking events, electronically posting opportunities through our career management system, coordinating mock interviews, and making formal presentations to groups (class visits, information sessions, club meetings, preview, and orientation, etc.).

The University of Mount Union is pleased to partner with Handshake to provide a career management system where students may search for jobs and internships, and where employers may post jobs and internships.

To schedule an appointment with the director of  Career Development call the Center for Student Success at (330) 823-8685. We offer appointments for all students to discuss a wide variety of topics including, but not limited to:

  • Graduate and professional school planning
  • Career options
  • Resume, cover letter, and portfolio reviews
  • Job and internship search strategies
  • Special internship programs: The Washington Center and Chicago Semester
  • Interview preparation
  • Career fair preparation
  • Salary and job market information
  • Reciprocity requests (referrals for students seeking work outside of Ohio)
  • Professional etiquette
  • Career readiness competencies (NACE Standards) - evaluation

Employers and Recruiters

If you would like to meet our students please consider attending one or more of the following events. Please read our policies prior to registering for any of these events.

Recruiting Policies. All employers who wish to participate in any type of recruiting activity with the University of Mount Union must read our recruiting policies and abide by these policies.  The Career Development Office should be your first/primary point of contact, as all recruiting activity needs to be approved by the Career Development Office beforehand.

Employers who would like to increase their name recognition with the student body may want to consider spending a day with us to offer mock interviews. Students benefit by the feedback employers provide on their interview style. Employers benefit from word-of-mouth publicity and the opportunity to identify potential candidates. For more information, contact Sara Fugett at or (330) 829-8211.

Employers who would like to attend our recruiting events or post jobs and internships must register on Handshake, our new career management system.  All employers who register on this system will be vetted prior to approval.  Once approved, they will be able to post professional level positions and internships and will automatically be included on our invitation list for recruiting events.
