Becoming a Raider
There were so many things that led me to the choice of attending Mount Union. I am a part of the volleyball team, so that was a factor. I also loved the size of the campus, and the sense of community I felt on my visit. Mount Union feels the most like a second home, because of all of the people that I am surrounded with, whether that includes professors, classmates, friends and even students I do not know on campus. Everyone is very welcoming, and people always have a friendly attitude that is comforting.
Preparing for the Future
I would like to use my biology degree to go into medical school in order to pursue a career in anesthesiology. Mount Union is helping me by allowing me to study biology and chemistry in order to prepare me for medical school, and for the rest of my career and life in general after that. With my major I intend to absorb and understand the information presented to me in order to help people in the future.
Life in the Classroom
One of my favorite learning opportunities was a class I took spring semester of my freshman year, MED 100. This class was designed to help students that want to go into the medical field learn more about the different professions in this field. Each week, we had a different person come in and talk about their jobs, including a podiatrist, a nurse, dentist and many more. Outside my major, the Integrative Core has been an important factor in making me a better professional in my field, because it is making me more versatile. Taking classes outside of your major allows for new learning concepts, opportunities and new ways of thinking. Being able to put everything together, instead of just focusing on one area, makes a person more valuable.
